                This program provides services for children who have a developmental delay, disability, or condition. The division offers several programs designed to help families receive evaluation and treatment services.

                Child Find

                This component of the Early Intervention Program ensures tracking and developmental screening of children from birth to age three who are at-risk of developmental delays and disabilities. Staff members assess the child using a developmental screening tool and provide education about infant care, nutrition, immunization, lead, and safety. The program is voluntary and at no cost to the family.

                Early Intervention

                The Early Intervention (EI) program provides therapeutic and support services to children from birth to age three who have a developmental delay or disability. Participation in EI is voluntary and at no cost to the family. The program is family centered and services are provided to the child in natural environments. The following services are available through EI:

                • Service Coordination
                • Multidisciplinary evaluation
                • Speech/language occupational and physical therapy
                • Special Instruction
                • Assistive Technology

                Preschool Special Education

                Preschool special education provides services for children ages three to five who have a developmental delay or disability. The child's school district is responsible for developing the child's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Counties and the state provide funding for the preschool special education programs and services. Children in need of services are referred to the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) in the school district where they reside. Some service options include:

                • Related Services Speech/language occupational and physical therapy
                • Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT)
                • Special class/integrated setting
