                To serve the public by providing a full service Department of Motor Vehicle Office for Chenango County and all New York State residents.

                New: NYS Offers three types of License, Permits, Non-driver ID

                Written Tests for all Permit Types:

                Commercial Driver License (CDL):

                Mon - Fri     8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
                 

                * No Enforcement, Enhanced Documents, Real ID Documents, or License Reciprocity after 4:00 PM
                Road Test Scheduling:
                By Phone: 1-518-402-2100
                By Internet: NYS DMV 24 hours day / 7 days week

                All CDL applicants must go to the office and submit a $40.00 road test fee. Save your reciept to schedule your road test.   To cancel a road test, call the number above or go on the Internet. (CDL applicants must cancel 72 hours before test)

                Other Testing Information:
                Written Test also available in Greek, Spanish, German, Russian, French, and Italian
                License Types Issued Locally:

                Class D (Operator) - passenger cars and light trucks (26,000 lbs. or less) for drivers over age 18
                Class E (Taxi and Livery) - for-hire vehicles carrying less than 10 passengers, must be over age 18
                Class DJ (Junior Operator) - drivers under age 18, with restrictions, see NYS DMV brochure Learner Permits and Junior Licenses
                Class M (Motorcycle) - motorcycles
                Class MJ (Junior Motorcycles) - for motorcycle drivers under age 18, with restrictions, see NYS DMV brochure Learner Permits and Junior Licenses
                Commercial Class A, B and C - for trucks 26,0001 lbs. or more and buses (minimum age 21). There are endorsements and restrictions depending on the type of vehicle driven and cargo.
